Can LTVP holders work in singapore?

My wife is a LTVP holder in singapore. Can she work in singapore?

Only if she has been married around 3 years or around 2 years and has a child. Then, you can apply for an LTVP+. This will allow her to work on a Letter of Consent.

I assumed he was a local. I should know better. So, yeah, only if sponsoring spouse is a Singapore Citizen.

Anyway, assuming that fliperz (Francis) really is a SC ('sg' = 'Singapore' and not 'single'

), then the LTVP+ and LOC route is a possibility (although not guaranteed of course). I mainly asked about this so that we have clear information in the thread for any future readers.

Foreign spouse of Singapore PR receive an LTVP on being sponsored whereas Foreign spouse of Singapore Citizen receive an LTVP+.
While LTVP+ allows you to work with a LOC (which is not easy either now to get)....for LTVP holders, they need to find an employer who is ready to sponsor them on a relevant work pass (S Pass/EP/WP)...in a nutshell..LTVP is an Immigration status and has no benefits like LOC for LTVP+

Have been on an LTVP when I moved and had a tough time to find an employer....Tough but not Impossible!!!

Foreign spouse of SC only receives LTVP+ after around 3 years of marriage or 2 years & a child, generally speaking. It's not an automatic issuance like a DP is for the trailing spouse of an EP holder.

Oh yes. So does this imply that a foreign spouse of a SC who doesn't meet the LTVP+ criteria can still be issued a LTVP?

Yep. The new LTVP+ was just started to partially address the inconsistency in the policy where a DP of an EP could work while the foreign spouse couldn't on the LTVP. The LTVP+ is new. This still leave a gap, no man's land as it were, for foreign spouses of PRs. Currently they still have to qualify for an Employment Pass or S or WP in their own right and cannot take any benefit of the Letter of Consent.

True. The fact that foreign spouse of PR's have to still compete for an eligible Pass to work as against those on LTVP+ who have an option for LOC (approved or not is a separate topic) and moreover those on DP who easily have access to LOC..beats me!!! Or because I am/was in that category...I feel for it more

You got it. And add to that, the fact that most employer do not know anything about the letter of consent so the jobseeker who is in that position has to learn all about it and educate the employer during the interview so as to have a chance. We have one on the forum who took my advice re educating employers and got herself hired initially after being very depressed for quite a while as she has excellent qualifications. She has since found her own way and a new employer on an EP now, however. But getting her foot in the door with the LoC was difficult as most know nothing about it.
