And Pioneer before they quite the TV business and sold the patents for the Kuro to Panasonic! (I love my Kuro and it's still looks as good as a HD set with that fantastic Plasma screen.).

I also have Viera (plasma, full HD) and the only problem is it had lost completely its anti-reflection layer within a year from purchase.
Samsung for me is for A-V a 2nd category. Almost all Sony's I have owned (including early LCD TV) got broken within a few years after purchase.
Also good overall experience with LG.

I had a Sony 32 inch flat screen that broke after a year. It was only used maybe 1 hour a day, and it was such a hassle to go through their warranty process!

Man just go to the TV store, look around, there are so many places where tv's are on display, ask the guy a few questions make him show you a demo or two and then buy the tv which you like the best.
phew is it THAT difficult?
To get there early is on time and showing up on time is late

You know, they generally set the demo TV's to very high color saturation, then keep the area around the TV's in lower light. What you see in the showroom may not be what you want or see at home.

well that maybe true too, but it a slightly better perspective than reading countless surveys and opinions.
I'll do my research compare brands and finalize 3 and go check them out.
sites like cnet and zdnet give excellent video reviews/demos on products btw. not to mention tons of stuff on youtube.
