The conversation here has really evolved in my absence :). Lets talk about 'admissibility' as that is the word the Canadians and the United States seem to use. For example here is a nice page that the Canadians have put up about inadmissibility to Canada.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/inadmissibility.asp
When I use key words such as
Admissible
Inadmissible
Inadmissibility
coupled with the word Singapore I don't get anything of use. Is there a different word that the Singaporeans might be using instead of Admissibility? I have tried searching both the Singapore Customs and Immigration websites as well as the normal Google search but haven't found anything of use.
In the United States we have the Wavier of Inadmissibility.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Sta ... issibility
Does anyone have an idea of Singapore has such a way to get extra consideration of ones case?
My BiL, twice removed? - never could figure out relationships - My Wife's brother's wife's sister's husband (a Yank like myself) is a retired US DEA agent who worked out of Singapore for almost 15 years between Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand & Cambodia. He is now ownes a security firm here in Singapore (after he retired from the US Gov't DEA) I've been told by him that the level of cooperation and depth that the gahmen here goes when vetting people is huge. They have their own vetting teams in the Major countries to do background checks on each and every application. Often, that is why is takes so long to do some countries citizen's applications - lack of infrastructure and the need to do it all manually and often not without some grease in certain Asian countries - them's the one's that take 4 or 5 weeks.
Lying is not an option. You might get away with it initially, but just like the fraudlent degrees from Myanmar. Eventually they get found out. Late last year (I've mentioned it before) I lost two S pass holders who have been working for me for 6 months already when we were visited by a team of 3 MOM field agents who picked them up on sight and whisked them away immediately.
------------------------------------------
It has been my assumption all along that Singapore will have access to the same criminal database that the Canadians are given access to and it seems your comment reinforces that idea.
I would like to hear more about the two S Pass holders that were whisked away by the MOM field agents. What became of them? Were they fined, imprisoned, both, deported etc.? My mind set is not to lie but this board is not the first place that I have been given that suggestion. However the people that have offered that suggestion have no idea of what the consequences are. The best I have been able to figure from the web is there is a possibility of a $4,000-$15,000 fine and also the possibility of up to one year in prison.
I have always figured that would be my case if I lied. I would probably get in and get all set up only to be found out and lose everything and that is a total waste of time and energy! Not to mention drastically reinforcing the perception to everyone that you are still a criminal after all these years.

In their case, they were incarcerated until the case was finalized. They weren't fined, but they were deported back to Myanmar. But, they could have been, and could have been jailed formally as well. I guess it also depends on where you are coming from as well.

As I have said from the onset, and even you agree , lying is NOT an option, hence there was a great discussion on these while you were not present.
IMHO talk to the immigration lawyer link that I have posted earlier on. Talk to them and let us know if there is anything else we can help
No one in this forum knows how the SG ICA deals with this. It is best to talk to the lawyer first

Bumping this to the top as I am still working on this. Basically waiting on the Ministry of Manpower to make a final decision. I'm guessing I have another two weeks or so of waiting to go :(. Also maybe this will be my 5th post and then I will be able to PM other members :).

Just giving everyone an update on this. Approval from MOM took about 2 months and was lots and lots of work, but I have been living and working in Singapore for 4 months now :). It seems in the end that a lot of the wait was waiting for the stuff to actually get from the persons desk that was afraid to make a decision to the committee and person that could make a decision based on the piles of information they required me to submit. Other than that it has been smooth sailing here although I am working lots of long hours.

Excellent. And goes to show that the right way is still the honest way. It may take a bit longer, but at least you can now get it without worry about "what if I'm found out".
Congratulations and thanks for letting us know the outcome.

Hello All!
I see that this is kind of an old topic,
.. but was wondering if Rudolf or anyone else, whose been through a similar situation, can speak to what additional supporting documents may be required to submit for an S Pass with US misdemeanors?
