Bit of a short notice but would anyone be keen on doing a 2D1N trek/camp in Malaysia next (9-10/7) weekend?
Cost would be 115 inc. everything. Checkout
www.boac-online.com 'Pelepah Waterfalls Camping Trek' for details!
On another note, I've been wanting to do the Mt. Kinabalu climb and am quite happy to organise it, so if there are any takers let me know! It'll be a 4 or 5 day trip - the climb starts at approx. 2,000m and all the way to the top (4,095m!).

Depends on how long you're going for. An afternoon stroll round MacRitchie, take water and be prepared to be warm. For a longer trek like Kinabalu here's my rule of thumb list:

Belt
Shorts
T shirts x4
Socks x4
Underpants x4
Fleece
Waterproof Jkt
Waterproof Bottoms
Big stuff
Rucksack
Rucksack liner(bin bag)
Sleeping bag
Poles
Boots
Sandals
Accesories
Knife
Torch
Stove and pans and lighter
Fork
Platipus (or Camel Back)
Guide books and lonely planet
Sunglasses
Hat
Compass
Map
Boring shit you wish you didnt have to carry
Toothbrush
Toothpaste
Razor
Foam or oil
Deoderant
Soap
Towel
Suncream
Ear plugs
First aid kit

Just start slow, get yourself a decent pair of shoes/boots, rucksack and a waterbottle and that should be enough for anywhere in Singapore, then as you decide you like it start getting the other stuff. Once you've got it you won't need to replace for years...
