Personally I feel that you must wait till 3-4 years of stay in Singapore. But since you applied, wait and see. Not sure if your PHD might balance out the shortage in residential requirements.

Hello! I applied PR Feb 2019 and then rejected Feb 2020, so2 sad

. Appreciate if someone can comment on the chance based on our profile.
Me (main applicant)
Age: 43
Industry: Senior researcher in University (obtained PhD. in 2013 from Univ of Tokyo)
Nationality: Japanese
Salary: 80k p.a. w/o bonus (for 20% salary increase in March 2019(Just after my 1st apply then I sent the latest salary slip to ICA))
Marital Status: married, Son 15yrs old, daughter 12yrs old
Length of stay in SG: 9 years
Pass type: EP will be expired 2024
Spouse:
Age:41
Industry: marketing section in a tourism industry (has Master degree)
Nationality: Japanese
Salary: basic 90k p.a.
Length of stay in SG: 9 years
Pass type: EP (changed job 2 times)
Thank you for those giving feedback and sharing experiences with us, really appreciate.
With the rumored "Others" quota being tiny as it is, and the uncertain economic climate at this time, it is surely going to be an uphill battle. You might want to wait it out for at least 1.5 years to stand a chance, given that you have a slight edge over others in terms of length of stay, qualifications (assuming you work in an in-demand field), and a male offspring included in the application.
As a university academic you normally get an EP with a 5-year validity, so you are in much better hands compared to most other 2-yr EPs.
Thank you for your prompt response all!!
More questions:
What can I do to increase the approval rate for reapplication? What kind of support materials should I update?
How do you lead in the 1.5 year period you mentioned? time for calm the pandemic? Or general election? economic situation?

Generally, it is recommended two years between applications. Unless you have a major change (even then I'd recommend a 12 month wait) e.g., massive increase of salary, additional certification/degree/patent position. But, if basically no real change, then in all probability, just like research, same data in, same results out. Then wait 2 years before reapplying is recommended.

Hi,
Have been considering applying for PR but thinking it may be better to defer until next year....main concern is I’m not getting any younger.
Profile:
- British
- Mid-forties
- Single mother (daughters)
- Been in SG for 4 years (senior leadership roles in 2 diff companies)
- Last year’s earnings $600k+
- Strong reference from senior local business leader (government linked)
However community integration (sports etc) more expat than local.
Any thoughts on whether it’s worth applying this year (or chances at all) are much appreciated.
