Hi expats, I applied for SC in Aug 2019 and status still shows pending, can you help to evaluate my chance of getting approved? Below are my profile:
PRC Chinese
26 yo
single
In SG since 2005 with my mum, got my PR in 2010 by invitation.
studied here since pri 4, took all major national exams (PSLE, o lvl, A lvl)
I didn't do well for my A lvl tho, so ended up in Kaplan's distant learning degree course in Marketing.
I started my first job in Jan last year with salary of 2.5k/mth, as marketing executive in IT company. Just got a 5% increment and submitted increment letter to ICA.
I think my non-local degree and low salary will be a big disadvantage.
I have some job opportunity in other IT related companies offering me more than 3.2k, will it be more beneficial for my application if I switch to that job? I really like the environment in my current company and would not want to leave unless really affecting my SC application.
What do you guys think?

Because you have been here for long and also did the local national exams, your chance will be high. Apply and if rejected first time, work on your career and see if you can get a better salary and then apply again. You will eventually get it.

I would totally agree with @singaporeflyer. Just try to apply and only if you get rejected then should you consider a mother job offer with better salary.

Sorry to hijack this threat but I have a question re SC application.
I applied for SC back in mar 2018 (received rejection in feb 2019). After that I was jobless for quite some time (1 year plus) but am now employed again.
I have also managed to substantially get a better pay compared to what I was making during my first application (about 70% increment). Wondering if I should apply for citizenship again now or wait for a year. Thoughts?

1 year gap is something that may affect your application. better wait for 2 years and then try to apply to show that you have stability. Where were you those 1 year?

In SG. Never left. Just wanted to concentrate on personal development so took some time off. And then covid happened so became a bit difficult to find jobs. Been working since August now

Hi, I have a few follow up questions regarding my application.
My initial plan was to get my SC approved first then get ROM with my boyfriend (PRC, aged 24, working in SG for almost 3 years, holding SPass), then we will purchase our resale HDB with fiancée scheme and he will apply for PR under spouse scheme.
But because 15 months passed still no news, our families are chasing us to get married lol. So now We are thinking to get ROM first and to apply for his PR now, then if gets approved we can get our resale hdb. Better still if my SC gets approved at the same time we can go for balance BTO units.
My question is:
1) which approach will be faster? He is the youngest in his family and parents getting old... So we need to go for the quicker approach to “settle down” (traditional Chinese mindset)
2) if we get ROM now, (me being PR, him being foreigner), do we need to get PMLA?
3) if his PR gets rejected, should I apply LTVP for him? Will that be better for his future applications?
Thank you!

Apply for PMLA and then get married, then let him move to LTVP
Wait for 2 years after marriage and then sponsor his PR. Till then, chance is very very low

I dont think it is because of the ROM. If you had married an SC and if he has sponsored you, for them to consider that positively you need to wait for atleast 2 years from date of marriage. Just my 2 cents

Hello sorry to hijack your post!
But i believe we have similar profiles - 26/27years old female(27 in 2021), and stayed in SG for over 10-20 years, did all the national exams here.
But im still waiting

i think possibly its the ROM?
Could I also ask why mine is longer as I applied in Aug 2019 too. Still pending. But i just had a job change - annual about 80-100k as sales in healthcare.
Thank you.

You’re asking us why yours is taking longer?
