What type of software engineering. Again it's too generic.

Like singaporeflyer says, you need to be in machine learning, AI, etc
If not, I wouldn't give you a high chance

First time I applied with my wife in 2017
Second time I applied with wife in 2018
Third time applied with wife n baby girl in 2019
Now applied in may 2020 with wife n my baby girl .

Pls advise me if I have any chance to get the PR, we want to settle down in SG only but disappointed not getting the PR.

But consensus is that there will be a surge of applicants this "season", plus an expectation of a lowered quota.

Just would like to what would my chances be to get PR application approved (first time applying)

Ethnicity: Chinese
Gender : Male
Marital Status : Single
Religion : Catholic
Education : Bachelor of Information Technology
Current Field of Work : IT - Web Developer
Length of Experience: 6 years
Length of stay : almost 6 years
(3 years of study in private uni in SG but go back to Indo due to unable to find job [2012-2014],
1 year 11 months in a company [Oct 2017 - Aug 2019],
almost 1 year in current company [Sept 2019 - present])

No of tax returns : 2
Salary :60k/year
Pass : EP

I understand the current climate here in SG might not be in favor to apply for PR right now, so I'm curious how my chances would be before actually applying. Perhaps with after waiting for a few more years too if it can help.

If you wait until you have been here on EP for at least 2+ consecutive years, you would have an outside chance. Sadly what with what has been in the news for the last two days or so, I'm afraid the chances are going to decrease even further.

While Indo Chinese used to have a leg up when it came to getting PR, the past decades political issues between the two countries haven't been the most cordial so it's gotten much harder to get PR. I can remember when the country was one of the biggest contributors to the Landed Permanent Residence (LPR) programme back around 2005~2008 where if you were ethnic Chinese Indonesian and had a degree you could get pre-approved PR. All you needed was a job offer (not even necessarily in your chosen field) and stay on the job for 12 months and PR was approved. I hired two as my company's HR Manager. That has been long disbanded.

So, without staying employed here for at least 2 consecutive years before application, (or three tax assessments for that period - happens when your 2 years overlap 3 tax years), that one will be the first to blow you out of the water. After that, it's basically anybody's guess at the moment to be quite honest. I say try to wait at least until you reach the 2 year mark before applying.

Evidence from this forum suggests your nationality AND ethnicity does typically help.
You are young, Chinese (from Malaysia) and you have worked for a few years.
In your case I think it's worth a go.

That PDF document is way out of date. It's from 2010, a full year before the 2011 GE when all hell broke loose. There is only one P pass today. There are, however, several salary tiers which allow other dependents, etc.

The Q pass has long been removed. The reason that document is still on the MOM site is because it's being kept under the Media Releases timeline/pages

Yup I read that document but I doubt mine is anything similar as my monthly salary is far from the criteria, plus I'm pretty fresh in the workforce too. Also read that P1 pass might have a higher chance of getting a PEP, not sure if that's true. Anyways just curious why its still listed on myinfo, can't seem to find any up to date, official sources.

tritonsg, I was just correcting information posted as to the info's current validity. Actually you do have a reasonable chance as you do tick all the boxes (the only one better is a female with your qualifications - also comes with built in cannon-fodder oven.) As you have a degree, the fact that you have been in the US for a while, you are still M'sian Chinese and that means easy assimilation with Singapore. Your salary is enough for this case as once you have two years (basically, on your 1st work pass renewal. You should be an easy shoe-in. If not on the first try, surely on the second. I see no reason why you should get it though.

Couple of weeks back I interviewed someone with a profile similar to yours, except that he graduated from a uni in Penang. I remember leaving the room thinking...how in the world did someone like that get a PR. Poor technical skills. Communication skills not there either. So long story short, I'm willing to bet my HDB flat that your application will be approved. ICA might as well put a banner up at checkpoint "All Malaysian Chinese with CS degree please collect your PR here"
