I don't understand why accomplished Indians are applying for PR and ICA would be making a mistake giving PR to 180-250k salary Indians. These people's kids are also going to be accomplished individuals and won't stay in Singapore. They will fly to US, Europe or somewhere for their education and then their parents will also follow them or go back to India and stay near their extended families.
ICA would be better off giving PR to average Indian families, who would most likely stay in Singapore, as they would value Singapore's education system and won't have a lot of money to send their kids overseas either.
Where are the stats that typical Indian families earning "average" 180 to 250k salaries are the ones getting PR?

People go with the flow and Singapore has lot of advantages which Indians like, like weather, low taxes etc. But the time to make the decision happens when the kids need to go to college. If it is male child, accomplished Indians would look at NS as a deterrent and even otherwise consider overseas education for college.
Ask anyone in your circle of accomplished Indians what is their plans for their kids college.

Btw what options an EP holder has for their child's higher education here in SG, curious to know ?

Well, not to complex the discussion. But wanted to share my view. And i agree that most of indians go back India or somewhere to skip the NS for their kids. Thats impacting other honest guys who want to settle down here like me. But it also case by case and individual choice.
I had choice to go USA in 2014 which i rejected. Reason we like the Singapore and wanted raise my kids here. Even my/spouse all cousins are in USA still no plan to go there. If i have plan B would have fly back not required to wait for 11 years. I am sure one day we will get PR in Singapore and settle down. I have that hope, so just matter of time. Thank you all for your response.

I've been on this board for over 17 years. If there is one thing I have learned is that Indian Nationals, regardless of their caste or education or marital status or gender, a large number of them will invariably burn their bridges when coming to Singapore and make it difficult to impossible in most cases for others from their homeland to come here. So, given this known fact there should be a pamphlet given to all Indians coming here that their chances of any kind of success about getting permanency here, aside from the small demographic controlled quota system, is that anything you do that you think or hear might improve your chances, other that those we generally advise here, will, quite honestly do nothing but eat up your time and money. You only have your own countrymen who came before you to thank for the difficulties you will experience and the frustration/disappointments you will meet. So remember, what we tell you (the long time members here) you can pretty much bank on.

^ It seems that even normal folks on the street have caught on - my boss was commenting about how many Indians he knows who decided to move elsewhere, either back to India or elsewhere. He looked at me and said "luckily you have married a local so there's little chance you'll ditch us" or something to that effect. Pretty much nailed it - echoes a lot that is said in this forum.

Agree, only if I could turn back time and go back to 10 years ago when I arrived here and someone told me that getting a PR and making Singapore home will be next to impossible.
The dilemma for many Indian people like us is that many of us have been expats for 20+ years and going back to India is not an option anymore, at least for me.

Aren't you the guy who is considering marrying his Malaysian Chinese SG PR girlfriend? It is not impossible for people like you - just that the government probably wants to see more concrete proof that you intend to settle here. Dating someone "without committing" (in their eyes) is not enough to show your commitment (via integration) to Singapore.

Pretty much nil. This is my whole point, it doesn't matter EP or PR, most Indians don't see any options for higher education here, so will send their kids to India or other developed countries.

Is it because they don't get a place here in top universities or because they find better universities in India and other developed countries?

^ Maybe the latter? If you’re on this forum long enough, you’ll see quite a number of posts from Indian applicants stating they studied in the “top X school in India” or US.
Local uni fees for international students cost quite a sum too.

Yes, obviously most Indian applicants for PR will come from Indian schools only. Do you mean PR kids prefer IIT/IIM over Singapore universities ?

I don't think that's a rule. I know plenty of Indians who are PRs here who's kids study at local unis.

As of what I know, most of them go overseas only if they don't get admissions into local universities or they are academically too bright and want to study in the countries like US, Europe, etc.

True! So it may be as mentioned below?
Indian EP Kids -> close to Nil chance to get a local university
Indian PR Kids -> Have a fair chance to get local universities.
So prefer local university if not too bright/rich to get top universities
If does not get a local university then depending on money may go to overseas or Indian Universities!
