Ignoring ICA on citizenship

Some of these Stateless persons here have been in the papers in recent years due to the impossible position the government puts them in.

Is there any way for them to acquire citizenship?

Wow, imagine having to go 29 years never being able to leave the country, not even to JB, for fear that you wouldn’t be able to reenter the country.

Yep, but I definitely think something should be done to expedite the citizenship process for such people. Nobody should have to live stateless.

if you read that article, government did offer him citizenship when he is 21 yr old. He turn down that offer.

Not sure about Malaysia citizenship but for Polish, he could be formally eligible even now.

Honestly, can’t imagine any reason why someone would turn down citizenship after 21 years of being stateless. Downright crazy.

I’d think that when you’ve been stateless all your life you take what you can get, especially when it’s as strong as SGC
