Malaysia has really screwed up with the MM2H minimum salary requirements. The people governing the country are so pathetic, which is one of the reason why Singapore thrives.

Malaysia should ideally take advantage of the WFH crowd in Singapore and allow anyone who has a work visa in Singapore or PR/SC to live and WFH from Malaysia, in return pay some sort of tax. I think this could be a win win for both Singapore, Malaysia and also the expats who live here. This would do wonders for the Malaysian economy and kind of reduce the arbitrage that currently exists b/w Singapore and Malaysia.

Would it really be THAT impactful to Malaysia's economy? Any possible political side effects? The later does not need to be any rational at all, you know. Look at the Singapore anti-foreigner sentiments and Singapore I believe is still more tolerant within the whole spectra of possible side effects.

Easier said than done, and also that's a 2 way street (literally). Though it's undeniable that the jam on the Malaysian end is MUCH worse.

Or even reconsider the infrastructure/approach at their side targeting the Singapore visitors. Long time ago, I think it was 15 years back, we visited Langkawi for the first time. We rented a car at the airport and on the way to our resort and nowhere near the airport, by complete accident we found a duty free liquor store. Imagine our shock coming from Singapore and seeing prices for wines a few times cheaper. Now having something like this in JB, surely it would boost tremendously weekend tourism industry But I doubt it is going to happen.

I'm not saying the increase is normal or easily handled by everyone, but why is it greed just because it's bad for renters? How many renters were paying landlords more than necessary in the 2013+ glut?

Not really. Interest rates are up and rents have been fairly depressed since the GFC. They are approaching more realistic levels for a global city.

On its own, that's absolutely ridiculous. But if it's in line with other units in the condo, then I guess that just makes it market price.

Agree, if that's the market price, then charging any less would be to lose out. It's just economics. Still, that doesn't mean the prices are reasonable or justified.
