5th time PR Applicant 2024 - Need your advice!

Hi all,

I am new to this forum and hope to get your advice as I am pondering whether I should apply this year or wait further. As the title goes, I was rejected 4 times before. Below is my profile:

- Single F, Vietnamese, 33 Yo
- EP Holder, Automotive MNC
- Annual salary: 100K ish (84K basic)
- Graduated from local university, have been working since 2016, never worked elsewhere except Singapore
- Have been living in Singapore for past 15 years and truly want to stay here for the rest of my life.

I have some questions after reading some posts in the forum:

1. I recently purchase a property in my birth country under my name. Is this a disadvantage to my PR application? Should I declare it in the form? I didn't purchase it because I want to move back, just due to my family circumstance.

2. My past applications included letter of endorsements from Singaporeans (my friends, my bosses, etc) but still unsuccessful. Should I still include them this time? Do you think the officers will read them?

3. Should I apply this year - as you know election is coming or should I wait and try to get a higher paying job?


Really appreciate your advice! I would like to know your success stories too if you have similar background.

If I were you I'll wait till job changes or marital status changes. Just feels like re-applying doesn't make any difference even with letters from friends and bosses..

Hi singaporeflyer , just curious why did you not recommend to add any testimonial or recommendation letter, is it no advantage to her?
Also if she did some volunteer work for a Singaporean non-profit organization and received recommendation letter, will it not help her?

Yes, the recommendation letter or the volunteering letter - Does not help anymore.

I hope someone might find this helpful. My PR application has been approved after another application in 2025. In between my pass was downgraded from EP to S-Pass. My application took 1 year and towards the end, ICA asked for my supporting documents such as bank statements, salary slips, why I was overseas during a certain period of time, some details about my birth certificate, etc...
It has been a long arduous journey but what a relief to finally get it. =)

ICA really requested Bank statements ?? Or payslip? Please clarify

Hi ask,

I do not remember the exact term ICA used but I submitted the salary-credit account bank statement. That and latest 6 months payslips. I think the request could be specific depending on your profile. It is possible they want to check on my financial situation, how much of my net worth is rooted here. Cheers.

Without the exact wording of the request from the ICA, I think that we need to assume that “proof of salary” was requested rather than “bank statements” — — we have never seen any anecdotal evidence that the ICA cares where your net worth is rooted, and until we do, we should continue to assume that this is not something considered.
