Foreigner children at the same school?

Post by newsingaporeuser » Wed, 25 Sep 2024 11:23 am

Hi new poster here.

I have read the forum and I'm not sure this question has been answered. Will my foreign children be sent to two different local schools?

So my oldest foreign child is due to apply for Primary school in a year. I realise that as a foreigner I don't get a choice of which local primary school they go to, which is fine.

My question revolves around my younger children. When they apply to primary school, would they also have to wait for phase 3? I.e. they would not be a guarantee of getting into the same school. Or is there a carve out for foreign student with siblings already at the school?

Thanks!

Foreign children have to wait until phase 3 and will likely have to take whatever local school is assigned. Note that you are not guaranteed to get any school as a foreigner, so you need to be prepared for the possibility that no local school will be available to them at P1 registration.

I do not believe the sibling scheme applies to foreign children, so having a child in one school would have no bearing on your other children getting into the same school.
