Hey there
I'm planning a romantic birthday dinner for my partner at an italian restaurant . Any recommendations for a cosy place with genuine italian food at $100 for both including wine.
Is La Smorfia & Mama Lucia any good?

We found Pasta Brava on Craig road (off Duxton Road) very good and not expensive.

I second pasta brava. Was at mama Lucia's just last night - food and price very decent, service is sometimes really crappy though.

How about Pontini at Grand Copthorne Waterfront (beside Zouk)?

How about Pasta Fresca at East coast? The food there is nice and you can view the beach while having your dinner. The price is reasonable there and the service is good.

Thanx all for your recommendations..Pontini's a mite pricey and a tad too formal though. Be prepared to pay $150 for a three-course dinner for two. Food also often looks too good to eat.
Pasta Brava sounds good. How's the ambience like.. Widely-spaced tables?
How's the food at La Smorfia...?
Thanx & cheers

Pasta Brava pastas are 20 and below, food is good and prices very reasonable. Service is ok but sometimes a bit grating depending on who you get (eg. waiter thinks he's funny with stupid comments, the owner looks after the floor but he can come across a bit arrogant & brusque but not too bad a guy).
Tables are not widely spaced, the atmosphere is less of quiet romantic but more like friends kicking back and chatting so it depends on whether you're next to a noisy table, otherwise for the food and reasonable prices, it should be suitable for a celebration that isn't formal, always seems to be some birthday there..lol we had a celebration there too. Lighting is dim.

Hubby's birthday is coming up soon, so I've been doing a little research for some nice restaurants to take him to. His taste is coming back, though...

I'm thinking along the same line F&B is the toughest industry.. High cost, high turnover, takes time to build customer base..

Any recommendations for a nice buffet dinner under $50 per pax? (Besides hotel buffets)

Last I heard is that you're no longer allowed to get your own food at some of the buffets. Instead, there's a plater for you; you tell them what you...
