Possible Formation of Book Club

I was reading a forum entry on some people asking about Book Clubs. They was a newbie who was willing to pioneer this effort. I have been to a couple of book clubs here (Book Cafe). But I would not mind, and if there are sufficient numbers, to start one around here. I remember there used to be a scrabble gamers at Doug's many years ago. But that was then. If you are keen and interested, let me know. It would need a week to setup a venue, selection of a book and getting the logistics organized.

I'd be interested too, though the mention of there being a "17-year old" something's got me wondering.
If that's the average age we're talking about, I'm not sure you should even be on singaporeexpats
ok. ok.. I'm kidding.

I think it's very easy, and exciting enough to start something.. keeping it going is another thing though.
It's more likely to work if individually people keep getting what they're looking for out of it. So maybe it'd be good to ask ourselves what it is we want out of this.
E.g, myself, if I'm to go for exchanging ideas and discussing with others I'd be hoping that it helps me see things from angles I hadn't thought of
considering and helps me think creatively.
For me, if such an objective is achieved I'm pretty sure it'd be fun to hang out with that gang..

Why don't you hold a gathering at, lets say, Eddie's Place ( a Restraunt/bar) at the Eurasian Association Building, and ask people who are interested to come and give you ideas about the book club, and at the same time get to know each other??

Paellafanatic, dont worry too much about the nature of books at the moment. The very purpose of this meeting is for you to voice out your needs. This is so the club can tailor to the needs of its participants.
