Take SPERS or International School

Hi, we are trying to relocate back to Singapore after almost a decade overseas in the US. I’m applying my PR. Can my daughter start in an International School and then transfer into the local system through SPERS after my PR is approved? Will the international school allow such transfer? Has anyone done such a move, please share your experience.

As long as you go through SPERS and there are vacancies in local school for your child, I don't see why International School won't allow it.

The restrictions are for locals and PR skipping local schools and trying to get into International School.

You can always transfer out. The question is whether you'd want to.

Correct. The difficulty is getting INTO an international school in the first place. Luckily as a foreigner it is no issue, though if applying for PR it may be useful to consider the optics of having a child schooled locally vs in an international school.

Your children will receive a better and cheaper education in a local school except for perhaps some of the most expensive International Schools (ie Tanglin or SAS). Most of the International for profit schools here can barely get the bulk of their grades into a decent uni. Be very sceptical of their hogwash.

Agree. I'd say if SAS/UWC is not on the table, it's best to go into a local school.
