LTVP Renewal chances if spouse works overseas

Post by hajime » Fri, 06 Feb 2026 5:13 pm

Hey all, I have successfully obtained my PMLA with my partner.

We're discussing future life plans and one option is for her to work in her home country after she graduates in SG.

Let's say we ROM and proceed to apply for and obtain the Initial LTVP, and she then finds a job in her home country. When it is time to apply for her LTVP Renewal, would the application likely be rejected because she was not in SG most of the time?

She'll fly here to visit me and vice-versa, when we can take leave from work.

Thank you.

Looks like you answered your own question.

Long term visit pass is meant for the foreigner to stay, live, work in SG long term. If not physically in SG, why should the pass continue?

Hi OP,

I am not sure whether our situation would apply to yours in the same way.

In our case, my wife was able to renew her LTVP even while I was working overseas and we were residing abroad.

However, our situation may be different from yours, as I was seconded overseas by a Singapore company, and we had stayed abroad for five years before returning to Singapore.

So far, we have had no issues with the following:

- Her LTVP renewal
- Our BTO application
- Her PR approval

Additionally, she also give birth a Singaporean baby.
