The "Eat & Scroll" Routine: Is this the standard in SG?

Post by GhițăIstrate » Tue, 24 Mar 2026 5:04 pm

Hi everyone,

I’m currently developing a project specifically for the expat community in high-density hubs like Singapore, and I’m looking for some honest "on the ground" perspectives on daily habits.

It seems that for many, the default routine after a long day in the CBD is ordering in and eating dinner alone while staring at a screen: Netflix, YouTube, or just scrolling. I’m curious to know: is this something people actually enjoy as "decompression time," or is "screen-fatigue" during meals a real thing for you?

I’m working on a way to swap that solo screen time for a casual 20-minute video meal with another person eating at the same time, but I want to make sure I’m solving a real problem.

What does a typical Tuesday night dinner look like for you? Is it a quick "eat and scroll" or do you find ways to be social during the week?
