Special needs

Post by justin2000 » Fri, 16 Sep 2005 12:33 am

Hello Everyone,

I am coming ot Singapore in January and wondered do the schools there have any special needs teachers? My daughter has dyspraxia, also what are the class sizes like at say Tanglin School or other International Schools?

Thanks
Justine

If your child is able to be mainstreamed I suggest you check out the schools on an individual basis. Class size really depends on their age and grade level. And special services tend to fluctuate internally between divisions.

There is also a wonderful school dedicated to children with special needs, here's the link:

Good luck to you.

:)
When you go in for a job interview, I think a good thing to ask is if they ever press charges.

You could try Dover Court Prepatory school. They have a special needs department which is fairly comprehensive, so I'm sure they will be able to accomodate your child's needs too. It is quite a small school, and apparently very warm and family-like. have a look at their webiste and you could try emailing them... Of course, that go for all the International Schools, I guess. Good luck with your decision.

We can recommend Dover Court as we have two children with special needs attending. The staff are excellent and class sizes are very small (up to 8 maximum I think) in the special education classes. It is a very friendly school with a "homey" feel to it and not as intimidating as some of the other large international or local schools.

Special needs

Hi I have just arrived in Singapore with my two children-one who has special needs. We are currently in the process of looking at Genesis and Dover Court and wondered if any parents who have children with special needs attending either school could comment on either school. :)
