I and my family are moving out at new year, and we will be joining the british club. I am interested to know if there are any current members out there who may be interested in giving me an informal view on the place!
I also want to join the gun club while we are there ( i am an absoloute novice but want to try my hand at tthis sport ) Any advice?
thanks,
regards,
Rachel.

Rachel,
Myself and my wife recently joined - we're in our late 20's and no kids. The place is a perfect retreat from the city - beautiful peaceful location, excellent facilities (sporting, social, food and drink) and is very reasonably priced.
We have some single friends who wouldn't go near the place, but we like it at weekends and a great place to meet folk. They are one or two of the 'old school' ex-pats there but on the whole we like it. Even better if you have kids also I imagine.
Best of Luck. Ant.

Hi Ant,
Tahnks for your reply. We arrived here last sunday and we are still finding our feet. I am going to go to the club soon, and feel reassured by your comments, thanks! Hope to see you there!
By the way, the old school expats seem to be in fairly short supply here! i think thats good??!!
Cheers for email anyway!
take care
Rachel

Do I detect a whiff of sour grapes there?

You can join the Swiss Club as they have a limited Range or the go and Visit the National Shootign Centre (hnadgun, claypigeon, etc).
Guns are highly regulated here so if you do join you will have to leave your fire arm in whichever clubs armoury...
Have fun

Sour Grapes? No not at all - why should there be? I'm more than happy with my lot thanks.
I am an expat like the rest, but there is a distinct difference between the ex-pats that moved here 20 years ago and those who are new to the ex-pat scene and have only been here a short time.
Not a criticism - merely an observation.

There's the Hollandse Club, a social club for expats and locals with facilities located off Adam Road in the Bukit Timah area which might be a bit more accessible if you don't drive than the British Club.
They do have a membership promotion going on.. you might just like to check that out as well.
