Bar & Restaurant Recommendations for a Newbie

I'm too impatient to go through all the threads on this site so I'm posting a message instead. I will be visiting Singapore for the first time in March. I'll be staying around Orchard Rd. I only have 3 days (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday) to hit the best bars and restaurants. Can I get recommendations for restaurants and bars? I'm not looking for anything fancy...just places that have good food, atmosphere and people...something memorable. Are there any bars that are lively on a Sunday, Monday or Tuesday?

hI,
for food, do hop in to Food Republic in Wisma (on the 4th floor). u can try all the local food there! You can also go to Far East Plaza for lots of yummy delights. Food is not a problem in Singapore, you can find all the f&b outlets conveniently here.

For live bands, do go down to Devil's Bar in Orchard Hotel. However, Mondays are the rest day for most live entertainment.

Good food? What kind? Asian (local Chinese/Malay/Indian/Peranakan or Japanese/Korean/Middle Eastern?), Western or International cuisine?

Atmosphere? Quiet? romantic? music? dancing?

People? mostly expats or locals ?

Brix at the basement of the Grand Hyatt Singapore or
Bar None at the basement of the Singapore Marriott Hotel

The best bars:

Zouk is a Singapore institution in clubbing so you should definitely pay a visit there, however business has been affected recently due to the opening of Ministry of Sound

New Asia Bar, on the 72nd floor of the Swissotel, is also a place where a lot of expats like to frequent, it has a breathtaking view of the city and the Singapore River

One of my personal favourites is this place called Alley Bar, on Emerald Hill - it's a quaint little place, a refurbished Chinese shophouse but they play nice chillout music and serve good drinks.

Restaurants:

Alkaff Mansion for a taste of Peranakan food which is unique to the South-east Asian region

Equinox - right next to New Asia Bar, again it has superb views but honestly the food isnt' that great - and the prices are astronomical.

One of my favourites is this place called Halia, situated deep inside the Botanic Gardens, its quaint, quiet and serene and very romantic.
