I'm up in Bangkok for the weekend and was wondering if anyone could recommend a good place to stay and meet people?
Also any good bars to go to?
Cheers

Bangkok is awesome!
Went to a friends wedding up there and had a great time. It has so much energy and the grittiness and life of it is such a refreshing change from Singapore.
Seedy fat germans with young thai girls is quite disturbing though.
The place I ended up staying was so bad - no recommendaions from me on this one.

I'd head for around Siam Square I think it's the Novotel, it's proabably around 40-50gbp a night.

Scene = what? Pubs? Hip nightclubs? Techno? Rock? Hiphop? Expats? Locals? Bargirls? Ladyboys? Bangkok's got it all, but you've got to be a little more specific...

It might be totally unrelated, but that hotel is on the same corner as the Erawan Shrine which had the peculiar terrorist attack years ago.

Such places wouldn't even have wifi... if you're referring to the strength of service, it really depends on how remote the place in question is.
