where to rent/buy cantonese drama?

Post by kesteey » Mon, 25 Jun 2007 9:51 pm

Hi

Since this the Cantonese Group Club, I presume you guys would know where I could rent/buy or best still download from the internet for FREE Cantonese drama series?

I have subscribe to the 1 and only StarHub TVBJ but the drama series are very very outdated and when I go to VidoeEzy, all chinese drama series are translate into mandarin

hey kesteey,

yes well you shouldn't try to get updated series in TVBJ nor in Video ezy.... what you can do is either find a chinese rental shop, they should have the most updated series.... but be warn,,,, they can be quite expensive~

and no doubt the easiest way (and cheapest way) is the d/l~ but it takes forever to do it.... not that I'm telling you that I'm doing it now......

currently we are watching 恭亲皇, china production, TVB translated canto language,, very exciting

and we also have 走向共和, china production, TVB translated canto, but we left it in our HK home...

Hi Kesteey,
There is one rental shop right at Tiong Bahru MRT, when you come out of the exit you can see the shop straight away.
Its at the opposite of Citibank.

Btw, I manage to buy 1 set of drama series today. Title - Man in Pain (in cantonese --> lam yan ji fu) from Poh Kim. So afterall the drama series in Singapore are not so up to date. 90% of the drama sold in Poh Kim from TVB - I have watched already.

You can actually watch it online if you have good connection.

www.megavideo.com

I've already watched "kan yan kin" (Wong Jee Wah, Yip Thung), Ultimate Crime Fighter and finishing Word Twister Adventures, which in Malaysia, these needs to pay extra even if you have cable TV. They call it premium for watching "at the same time as HK".

Enjoy :)

TS and Poh Kim only sells TVB series that had finished their run in HK. For those series that are currently showing in HK than you need to visit TVB/ATV authorised rental shops to rent the latest drama series. TVB cantonese drama is very popular here but these rental shops are usually located at HDB estates where most people lives. The cost is like $1 or $1.50 per episode depending on if it's on vcd or dvd.

Scorpio East is the distributor for TVB series in Singapore and they have a list of shops renting cantonese tv series. Here's the link to their website to find the nearest rental shops in your area (http://www.scorpioeast.com.sg/contact.htm)

As for dl than the speed is actually quite fast, it takes only 20 to 30 minutes for one episode but BT requires a bit of set up otherwise it would be slow as someone above had mentioned.

Do enquire with the shops for delivery serivce as some shops do it for regular customers.

If you are looking for direct download links for the latest TVB series, just goggle popularasians. You will only be able to see the links once you have registered as members. Enjoy and please delete within 24hrs after you watch it in order not to infringed any copyright.

Cheers
