I know there are some special schools in Singapore but what about for autistic children. How do we get them diagnosed? I think many parents are not aware that their kids may be autistic.

There is a group from www.expatsingapore.com with children with special needs that meets regularly for coffee. If you go on there and look for a member know as 0.02c or something like, I'm sure she'd be happy to help you. I contacted her on behalf of a friend and she gave us a ton of information.

Bit of a strange way to word your question dapstudent (your second post I mean). Are you asking for yourself or someone else? Do you have a child who is autistic or are you asking on behalf of someone else?

There are many avenues to follow in Singapore for this type of thing. Seasider gave you a great lead, but also look up the ARC or Autistic Resource Centre. They list many specialists etc and schools that can help in this situation, they are the main contact area to start with and are very helpful.

dapstudent, I am guessing that English is not your first language, which is leading to the confusion. Please confirm - are you LOOKING for the services, or OFFERING the services?

If you are looking for them, please do try to make contact with the person I mentioned and also look up micknlea's suggestions. If your child has been diagnosed with Autism and you yourself are feeling "a bit lost" I'm sure you will find some support and good advice.

Yep, can only agree with seasider, the meetings are really good, next one is due first week of September I think, check it out. You will find lots of people in the same situation.

a fren of mine enroled her son for sound therapy which is highly recommended for autistic children .... if you're interested, i'll check out further details for you.. i believe those who have gone through it will know a thing or two about this treatment and their practitioners...
