Hi there,

I ve been living here for 2,5 years and I am 3 months pregnant now.

I am looking for people who are in a same situation like me that we can meet and share some ideas...it is my first time and I m very excited and scared!!

another thing that i wanna ask you that I have a doctor who i m not happy with (Dr.Ann Tan) and try to find another one...Has anyone known any good gyne/ob?

did you hear about dr. mary rauff? i m from Turkey and i had a only Turkish friend ,who just moved to japan, and she recommend me dr. mary and according to her all Turkish pregnants go her...i may go to her...i donno:( this is my first time and i m really anxious and scared:(

btw i dont have a maid now... did you need a maid part/full time after a baby??

ps: i have been living here for 2.5 years:)

I saw the post at expat sin. She is from NUH i believe.

I used to be afraid when I was pregnant too. It's only normal.
You might want to go to Dr. Mary Rauff. You have to feel comfortable with your gynae cuz you will need her alot during pregnancy, whether for consultation or mentally.

I didn't have a maid from the start till now. Perhaps you might need a helper during the first 1 or 2 months after you give birth cuz you will exhausted. And it's a good to have someone to clean your house and do your laundry while you have a good rest and sleep and take care of your baby wholeheartedly.

Whether to have a maid or not, it's depends on individual.

i wanna have a part time maid to clean my place not for taking care of my baby. i dont wanna give my baby to someone else:(

and also my mother ll come for my first month to help...

btw for doctor i try to reach my friend who lives in tokyo to ask her again about the doctor...

if you dont mind can i ask you how much you paid for everything (doctor+delivery room)?

dr. rauff does consultations at Mt E and NUH, but delivers only at the NUH. i tried to secure an appointment with her, but was told she's not taking new appointments til november. looks like she's very busy. her consultation fees are also a bit higher than other specialists at the NUH.

for fees, i think the hospitals' websites have them all.

Hi Shura

We stayed at Mt E., one of the most ex hospital in Singapore for 6 or 7 days in Class A room. Tried normal birth but ended with emergency c-section. We paid about $12k for doctor and hospital, usually normal birth would be less than half than what we had paid cuz you would be discharged 1 or 2 days after birth.

The more economical hospital in Singapore is KK.

yep as long as everything goes good, i want normal birth with epidural. for me normal birth is the healtiest way...

does "c-section" mean cesarean?

yes, c-section stands for cesarian section.

if money is an issue and your medical coverage does not include maternity (usually only the hospitalization bills are covered in the basic packages), consider giving birth at the NUH or the KK Women's Hospital. although these are public hospitals, they have very good reputation and are very well equipped to handle possible neonatal issues. i myself am considering giving birth at the NUH (even if i do have an international health insurance which will cover almost everything), primarily because of the neonatal facilities and its proximity to where i live.

yep our health insurance cover my maternity , but still we need to pay some...but its ok, its gonna be only once in my life:)

I am expecting with my 2nd child. I am on my 21 weeks. Just moved here from the US almost 1 month now. Would love to keep in touch with you ... and Helen. We are moving to our permanent place on the east coast next week. Which area do you live?

I also got Dr. Mary Rauff's name through a friend's friend. Dr. Rauff delivered her baby back in May at NUH. She was very happy with Dr. Rauff and with the services at NUH. So I decided to make an appointment with Dr. Rauff anyway, even though it will be on Nov 21 (yikes!). Did you end up making an appointment with her?

Meanwhile, I will try couple more doctors (recommended) and see if I can get any earlier appointment as I am still in the process of searching which Ob/Gyn doctor I feel most comfortable with.
