We are organizing a short getaway retreat to tioman island ( tekek village ) on the March 21 – 22 , to be out in the sun , sea and sand !
It’s also your opportunity for those who are interested to become an open water scuba diver ! course details , will be provided by our PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer Or if that challenge is too overwhelming for you , you can just snorkeling in the clear blue water around tioman island
Our resort is just on the beach front , so you can just relax on the beach and be engulf in the lapping of the wave , be it sun tanning( bikinis is a must for ladies lol ) or moon lighting …
Date of departure
21 sty March – 0300 hours
ETA in Mersing Jetty – 0630 hours
Date of arrival - 22 nod March
We will be taking the 3pm ferry on Sunday march 22
ETA in Singapore– Approx – 2100 hours
Mode of transportation
By car to Mersing ( we need to know the number of BMW’s and F1 drivers )
We will be designating a central location ( TBA ) for all to meet up and move off from there ,1st pit stop in johore will be at a 24 hours malay stall after sentosa ( near the shell station ) on the right , you will have to make a U turn after you see Shell on the right . 2nd pit stop at the gas station near Jusco .
By ferry to Tioman island – tekek village ( we will be taking the first morning ferry out ( 7:30 am ) to tioman with Blue water ferry services )
As we need to book the resort , ferry , scuba diving or snorkeling equipments , logistics etc
Please submit your interest the earliest possible time as it’s the start of the diving season in tioman , we need to secure the logistics
Cost of full board package - ferry transfer , accommodation , ALL meals on the island , snorkeling and scuba diving activities are – TBA ( excluding your car’s petrol , snacks , supper , beers and xxxx cost )
Below are a brief description of the island , the village and the transfer
Pulau Tioman (Pulau is Malay for Island) is the largest island on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. It is located in the South China Sea, approximately 32 km from Mersing, the closest mainland port. Measuring some 22 km long and 11 km at the widest point, the island has a total land area of 133.6 sq. km.
Pulau Tioman now belongs to the state of Pahang in Peninsular Malaysia. In its early history, Pulau Tioman was known as a stopover for sailors, fishermen and traders to get fresh water and firewood or simply for evading storms. The island was a settlement for Malay fishermen several hundred years ago and there are now six major kampungs (villages) on the island, mainly on the west coast. The number of villagers is now some 2,650, most of who were originally fishermen from Pahang or Johor. Rubber and coconut are the main crops planted on the flat coastal area.
Tioman has beautiful beaches with surrounding marine areas. The landscape and the beauty of the island have attracted many tourists, locally as well as from abroad, and the island was once voted one of the 10 most beautiful in the world. In addition to fishing activities, tourism has become a very important income generating activity on the island. Many tourist facilities such as chalets, rest houses and hotels have been built, either by the state government or the private sector. While it is fair to say that development over the last 10 years has had some adverse impact on the islands' environment, it remains a beautiful and restful place.
Tekek village (Kampong is the Malay word for village)Tekek is the main village on Tioman, with a permanent population of around 2,000. Most of the population works in the tourist industry, many in the Berjaya resort, about 5 minutes drive from the village. The airport is here, along with administrative buildings such as the customs and immigration headquarters, as well as the duty free shops!
Driving from Johor Bahru or Singapore to Mersing
Drive to Kota Tinggi from Tebrau Highway and proceed your journey to Mersing, a quiet fishing town. The distance is approximately 138 km. Well, you will never miss it as you can see the signboard to the town. At Mersing jetty,we will be taking the blue water ferry services to tekek village , tioman island . There are secured parking spaces at a very cheap rate (around RM5/nights) so you don't have to think about your vehicle safety!
