IT Job related query

Hi

I am currently on DP as my spouse is employed with a reputed firm in Singapore.

I am having 6 years of experience on Application Programming Software Services
for Support and Development and currently employed by a top IT company in India.
I have worked across various location like UK and India for top MNC clients and
currently looking for similar roles in Singapore.

I am facing a strange scenario in which I am being contacted by several job agencies
since my arrival in Singapore (around for 3 weeks) who will take all relevant details
and suggest that they will process my CV and get back with an interview schedule.
But till date I have not got any chance for any interview and whenever I try to
re-contact they tell me that they are awaiting feedback from their clients
regarding the interview schedule.

Can anyone please suggest if this is the general practice in Singapore in which it takes
a long time for any company to shortlist a candidate and get back with an interview schedule
or is it that my resume/approach towards the job hunting has to be changed in any way?

I am waiting for feedback from several job consultancies so am thoroughly confused as to why
the process is taking so long a time.

It is a bullshit tactic used by agencies here to get your CV. I wouldn't consider sending them anything unless they could name the company and describe the job... even then it is probably a ruse.

I've been there before when I was in SG. I received those resume / CV requests a lot.

You have to remember those agencies are running a business. They're trying to get money out of your employment / recruitment.

while waiting for your employment happens,
why don't you deposit your resume in a company's website.
big companies, IT related companies, like hp, ibm, microsoft, etc.
there are many companies where you can just drop your resume in.
i agree with the agencies.
even when they ask you to go for an interview, their purpose is to send someone to their client. after seating and talking to the interviewer, you find that their job description doesn't match your understanding.

As a former Admin & Finance Mgr of a local recruitment firm I can attest to the fact that most of the ads that agencies post are nothing more than farming exercises to fill their databases. Additionally, most of the online databases kept by companies are not kept more than around 3 or 4 months as they get literally dozens a day. It's only if they need a position that they even look into the databases to see if there is a recently posted CV that might fit to warrant a closer look.
