THAILAND to SINGAPORE

can someone guide me how to bring dried package food in boxes from THAILAND to SINGAPORE? What's the procedure like? I was told to get a local agent to do the pre-clearance at custom and also to pay GST. i have a AVA licence number exp this July. Thanks.

I've checked with the Agri-food and Veterinary Authority and have these points to tell you:

1. All meats (including chicken) from the Philippines cannot be taken into Singapore. So you cannot take your fried chicken, sausages and cakes - if they have egg content - through Singapore Airport.

2. As a traveller, you may take up to 5kg of seafood through the Singapore customs for personal consumption (except oysters, frozen cooked prawn meat, frozen cooked crab meat).

Control over food import into Singapore is constantly changing, due to the changing nature of food fitness. Please note that this information is time-sensitive and is correct only at time of posting.

Thanks HEART for your reply. i just want to know how the charges from our local shipping agent; the warehouse charges and local delivery charges. i guess the procedure is a very tedious one. they also have forklift charges; document transfer charges; GST document charges etc....and also heard that if the authourity gets suspicious of your goods, they will hold it back and then i have to pay extra charges for the days of storage. just wondering how to cut down on all these payments.

You need to have an import licence or the customs will just hold it, until you get one, you will have to pay storage fees if they do that. You will also need AVA approval of the products, and additional labels to inform consumers of the ingredient's, country of origin and importers details.

Though our company is registered for imports and our shipping agent does all the tedious work.

You cut down on your costs, by doing the job correctly. Planning before execution!
