Hi,
I am interested in some comments and advise from the forum.
I have a BSc Degree (Information Sytems) with 15 years IT experience and 20 years total work experience in the financial services industry. Fairly diverse experience (Management, Business and Technical Analysis, support, Business engagement) - currently in Senior Management.
I have been applying for many of the vacancies on the online job boards for the last 2 months, but to date have not had any bites.
I have also read many of the posts on this forum but there seems to be many different views on the potential to find a suitable position.
* What is the current IT market in financial services like for foreigners?
* What would be the general timeframe to a find suitable position?
* Would coming to Singapore for a few weeks increase my chances?
* Currently I have submitted my CV in responce to specific adds, would contacting the agencies via phone directly increase my exposure and chances of securing the position?
Any other advice and comments are welcome.

You might want to directly apply to the companies you are interested in-keep scanning through their websites for suitable vacancies and send them your updated CV.
For those who fight for it, life has a flavor the sheltered will never know.

Hey IM, you forgot to tell her the most important attribute.......
Persistence. It can take a while but you just cannot let the bustards grind you down. It'll probably take a lot longer that what you think is should but eventually, if you want it bad enough and long enough, you might succeed.
SOME PEOPLE TRY TO TURN BACK THEIR ODOMETERS. NOT ME. I WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW WHY I LOOK THIS WAY. I'VE TRAVELED A LONG WAY, AND SOME OF THE ROADS WEREN'T PAVED. ~ Will Rogers

I agree with SMS, I have been plugging away at looking for work for over 1 year and just landed my first contract starting next month.
The best way to find work in my opinion is networking, try and find someone in Singapore who is willing to recommend you to another colleague. My job came through a colleague of mine on a project last year. He recommended me to a guy in one company, who passed my details to another, who interviewed me in February (not the right job) and then he passed my details on to my new boss 2 weeks ago and I have been offered an IT Project Manager position in Singapore starting 13th September!
I met the original guy 18 months ago on a project working from a large financial company in the UK and spent 2 weeks with him and his colleagues in Singapore last September.
Going to Singapore is worthwhile if you have people you can meet with and spend time with who can represent you in some form! without that it is much more difficult to get work and just going across to watch the F1 and go to USS is not productive (as I am sure you understand)
Hope this helps and good luck!

You should download Annex A first then pass it to HR to fill. Maybe HR has an outdated copy of Annex A, who knows?
