Can someone tell me the cost of prenatal package that include all the visits and check ups and ultrasound upto the real delivery please....Wondering how much that usually runs upto in Private hospitals like Glen eagles or Mount Elizabeth .

You asked about private hospitals...I can quote you what I paid at NUH, if you want. I was very happy with my experience there. FYI the prenatal package I paid for covered all visits, tests, etc from 22 weeks gestation until (but not including) delivery plus one postnatal visit. All told, from my first appointment at 6 weeks, one L&D visit plus overnight stay for early labour and delivery (at 40weeks/4days ) in the water birthing suite, staying in A1 class room I paid about $7000. The (uncomplicated, vaginal) delivery and two night's stay was about $4100, the previous overnight stay was about $1000. If you're interested in the breakdown I'll check my records and let you know.

My package started around 20th week of gestation. It was $1000 and included all of the visits from 20th week onwards, scans (including 3D), routine checkups, smear, CTG etc. It did not cover any extra tests or medication though. It did include one postnatal visit (week after the delivery).
Visits before 20th week were usually between $120-$300 (most of them below $200) including scans, folic acid, PAP, OSCAR and blood tests. I do not remember exactly how many of them I had before the 20th week, but I guess around 3-4.

It was with one of the doctors from Mount Elizabeth.

I was under the impression that private hospitals were better but reading through forums it appears that the government hospitals seem to be a better choice and the rates feasible ...

My outpatient antenatal package was $870-which was for the "Senior Consultant (List 1)" doctor who was A/Prof Mary Rauff (she was wonderful!).
It included everything from 22 weeks until delivery, with certain exclusions, the only ones for me being the glucose tolerance test, and one extra CTG session. http://www.nuh.com.sg/events-and-health ... #antenatal Looking on their website, the price seems to have increased to $930.

So, for all visits and investigations prior to the antenatal package: $736.05 (this included all the routine first trimester screenings and ultrasounds)

Antenatal package: $870

Costs incurred prior to delivery outside of the antenatal package: $44.20 for one CTG session (the package includes two, but they started them at my 37 week appointment and wanted to do it each week, so on the 39 week appointment I was presented with a bill. I refused a 40 week appointment as I knew I was fine and there wasn't much to check.)

One overnight stay (in a class B ward) at 33 weeks due to early labour symptoms: $995 (two hours in L&D plus investigations, steroid shots and the horrible medication that stops contractions). I chose the class B ward because it was recommended to me in case I ended up having to pay for a premie in NICU. It kinda sucked-I wouldn't go back for that again unless I truly couldn't afford the single-bedder ward.

One L&D visit at 40w0d for what turned out to be a hind water leak (not my water breaking or labour): $101

Normal vaginal delivery (at 40w4d) plus two nights inpatient: $4229.80 (A1 Ward 96 room, water birthing suite, rooming-in fee for my husband) on my bill I was only charged for one night...something about the time at which I was admitted/discharged. My son was born at 7:39pm on a Tuesday, we went home before noon on a Thursday.

Nursery charges: $359.50 I'm not sure how much or any of this would have been charged if my son hadn't been admitted for observation due to passing meconium in utero-he was fine, just had extra checks by the pedi. He roomed in with me.

Total costs: $7335.55

It should be noted that in order to use the water birthing suite at NUH they require you to hire a doula. I hired mine from Baby Bliss for $1250 (two antenatal visits, delivery and two post natal visits). I may have gotten a discounted rate due to taking prenatal classes from Baby Bliss also.

As far as the private/government hospital thing: I can't say which is better since I've only done it once, but I was very happy with my experience at NUH. What helped me decide was a) the projected cost and b) the idea that if (God forbid) anything was wrong with my baby, he would likely have been transferred to NUH anyway. I figured in such a situation I'd like to be as close as possible. HTH

because i found these address from website. also they work in weekends. so i like it. but the most of the women goes to tertiary hospital, so i scared, if they consult me wrong or not. what do u think?
i also want to go any parkway hospitals. but i cant see their price of service on prenatal package.

mmmmmm .. if you are so scared, you should not go to ANY DOCTOR

no doctor worth his / her salt will willingly implicate themselves .. so .. I wonder when such a question comes up, how to answer ..

This might seem like a stupid question but doesn't your private medical insurance pay for the hospital component while delivering your baby? In Australia, we pay for all the lead up appointments with an ob separately (my cost was about out of pocket $1,500 which included regular appointments with an ob) but then once you're in labour and at the hospital, the medical insurer picks up the cost - is it not the same here?

Sorry for my ignorance - just trying to get my head around the costs we'll need to factor in next year as we're moving to singapore in January.

Nope , it does not work that way. In SG if you are a local or PR , you are allowed to deduct from your CPF (Central Provident Fund) on your Medisave Account to pay for the cost of the hospitalisation. The rest of the bills from Obs or Gynae etc you have to foot it yourself. The Medical Insurance for newly born and the mum covers for unfortunate incidents but you have to discuss this with a insurance companies on the details. Not sure......
Most private or gahmen hospitals are equally capable and fully equipped for MTBs and the child. If you are on the first or second trimester, whovere you choose to be your Gynae do have a delivery packages. Differs from Gynae to Gynae. The devil is in the details. Price wise is almost competitive.
