Dear All,
I have a question concerning EP issuance by MOM: is there more chances to obtain an EP if applying under P1 rather than P2 (keeping the remaining of the application identical, experience, diploma, job description, etc.)?
Thanks!

I didn't think you had much choice as that is based on your salary?
Or did you mean chances of EP and S-Pass?

Sorry I was not clear enough. In fact my salary is close to P1 threesold, and by adding some other elements of the package it will exceed P1 salary requirement. If P1 is easier to obtain, it can be a good idea to suggest this to my employer.
What do you think?

First of all, your basic salary will be quoted as a fixed amount in your contract (this is what will go on the application for an EP). It will be without bonuses, allowances, or any other remuneration. Secondly, you can only request an EP. You cannot request the level of EP. The only choice you are given on the application is "If not found ineligible for an EP does the applicant want to be considered for an S pass".
MOM will issue the level of EP that they deem suitable. Just hope you are given an EP. That should be the major concern, not the level of EP.

Yep, I saw on these pages several people having problems to get their EP... However, it is very useful to know some mistakes that have been made, as well as their consequences!
By the way, can you tell me when it is best to start the EP administrative process, as I will start my new job in 2.5 month?
Thanks

It's your employer who should kick-off the proceedings for your EP and not you. Just touch base with your employer on your joining dates. They should take care of the admin process which you have mentioned.
If all things go well, you would have your In-Principal Approval Letter emailed to you - by your HR. This will act as your single-entry Visa as well.

The people having problems are the ones who are trying to tailor make their applications for approval OR are just not qualified (either themselves or their employers cannot justify the need to hire a foreigner instead of a local). If all the information is given to the HR up front, then are usually few rejections for "errors". But a lot for outright fraudulent documents/certs, etc., etc.,
Play is straight. If you don't they could come back in 3 to 6 months and bounce you out of the country for most any reason. I've had several S pass holders two years ago who were picked up 6 months into their contracts when MOM finally got wind that their degrees were bogus.
