At the start of the season I looked at what Watford needed to do to get 40 points to survive and I came up with needing 9 wins - 6 at home and 3 away.
Of the 6 I reckon we need to win at home we have played 2 already, West Ham and Fulham, but got 2 points only. Now I have been deeply surprised at Tottenham's poor start but in my view we must beat them at the Vic towards the end of this month. Spurs will see the Hornets as a chance to get back on form so it would be a huge psychological blow if we were to miss out against a team with such poor form. Then we must treat the next home game v. Boro as 6 pointer.
No problems if we don't get anything away at Arsenal on 14th Oct as long as its not a stuffing. Mind you, we are playing like the England of the early 90s at the moment - the worse the opposition, the worse we play. Man U, Villa and Bolton brought out the best in us but we managed to make Fulham and West Ham look half decent. So perhaps a surprise point at the Emirates if the defence keeps its wits about it? And please God let van Persie have used up his supply of volleys!!!
With a bit of luck Chris Powell has a chance of making it. After all he was bought for his experience to keep a cool head when its all hands to the pump. Mind you, he had a spot kick given against him when he headed the ball out for a corner versus Everton - so let's all talk soft penalties!
