Any french speaking person out there?

Hi, I am looking for someone who can teach me to read, write and speak french. I lived in Canada in the past 5 years but I didn't really have time to pick up another language. I need someone who is willing to teach me (3~4 hrs a week). I may need a letter in french later to prove the business partners/companies that I have the ability to read, write and speak french.

I could teach you some other languages. I will let you know my schedule in about 2~3 weeks.

Being a the good Canadian guy that I am, I do speak french but I know there is NO way that I could teach it to anyone! And besides, you really wouldn't want me to anyways!! You may want to check out the Canadian Association of Singapore website www.canadians.org.sg I know that they have all sorts of resources for language services and stuff of that nature!

Solarv, why don't you go to the Alliance Francaise bulletin board and post a note there. Better if you're an Asian girl because there're lots of French men in Singapore and we all know how french men are don't we? haha.

ok it might have been a bit crappy french but the translator said it was french, so i trusted it.

yup i understand enough french to know those posts don't make any sense whatsoever! the translator sucks! Guys don't embarasse yourselves!

Yup agree, aliance francaise is a fab school to attend, i have attended when was studying French back in NZ, and i know another friend who has tried here with Aliance Francaise c'est tres tres chic! C'est facile a apprendre...

if you're a real beginner, you can also try organisations like YMCA, they offer basic begining class.

Hey EPL, sorry about no-show, got called back to office by boss. Should have let you guys know though, my bad.

I think you can take degree in French here and still not understand a thing because there're no opportunities for immersion here. The next best thing you could do is to surround yourself with French people or get a francophonic bf/gf/spouse.

I took french for about 3 years, both at AF and in uni and I diligently practised and read and studied. Then I had a friend who went to Lyon on the student exchange programme and before I knew it, he spoke and listened a brazillion times better than I ever did. I figured it was pretty much pointless to learn a lang without immersion, unless its merely for fun and killing time.

thanks for all the info everyone...ppl seem very helpful here. Yes, to the last post...it's very true that it's kinda pointless to learn without immersion...I may forget everything later....im a guy by the way. That will be great if I can live with a french housemate...ha...
