THE BUZZ: An oldie but a goodie, Choupinette is one of the few cafes serving brunch that allow you to book tables in advance.

This cosy cafe along Upper Bukit Timah provides a slice of France with its pastries and dining menu that conveys a refreshing authenticity reminiscent of the French countryside.

MUST TRIES: The eggs benedict and eggs Florentine (which uses wilted spinach in place of ham under the poached eggs of eggs benedict) sets (with fruit juice or any hot drink) are the most popular at Choupinette and rightfully so — eggs are perfectly poached and the hollandaise sauce is done nice and traditional.

If you’re looking to up the "sin" factor, order the Le Croque sandwiches, with fillings of ham (Monsieur), chicken (Poulet) or eggplant (vegetarian), all topped with emmental cheese and bechamel (white sauce made from butter, flour and milk) then grilled. The dainty Provencal-like decor will tempt you to stay on for macarons and tea once the meal is over. Also, they open at 8am if you are looking to kickstart your day here.
